Isle of Harris The Hearach First Release Batch 1

The Isle of Harris distillery started in 2015 with just 10 people and had the ambition to double over the next five years. Today they have over 50 employees which is quite a high number since less than 2000 people are living on the island!

The Hearach is the first single malt whisky from the Isle of Harris with eight different batches being released. Every batch is made with the same recipe but they do have a few subtle differences between them. 

This first release single malt introduced by the Isle of Harris distillery underwent complete production on the island and was matured in first-fill ex-bourbon, ex-oloroso, and ex-fino sherry casks. A mild peat smoke is evident in the aroma, accompanied by additional scents of wildflowers, toasted malt, and honeysuckle. The palate reveals notes of leather, meringue, and ginger.

The Hearach represents a significant milestone for the island distillery and the Isle of Harris as a whole.
